The only weakness of Khemmis’s Absolution is that it opens with a single and ends with one of their most important songs. Which is to say, I prefer my music to crescendo toward the center. I can’t have an album open with something that stands on its own. Not because it can’t, but because I am unable to understand that something can be both great and not sufficient. Moreover it prevents me from seeing the brilliance and literal centrality of Serpentine/Antediluvian.
