We don’t even understand the objects in our immediate view. How much less everything else?

If you were to ask me to describe my immediate field of perception I would have to stop whatever it is I was focusing on—that is, I would have to change my immediate field of perception.

Thus the most dangerous of questions: do we even understand what we focus on?
